Sterling Sharpe was at Wofford colledge in Spartanburg last week, and said He'd been approched. Hes a classy guy as far as I know, him or Steve young, but not Rush or Dennis. Ones to political, the other lacks taste.

I also heard on the news that they were going to have Eric Dickerson on as well. I don't get the Dennis Miller thing--I never even thought he was a good comedian.

I've gotten a chuckle or two out of Dennis Miller, but generally I find him arrogant and rude.

A comic roving the field/stands might be nice for comic relief between the sports-related stuff, but having him in the booth? Maybe they want to make it more like WWF.

At least its not Rush. Can you imagine the commentary interuppted with Clinton barbs!

"Yes Al, that ten yard gain is like Bill, Hillary and the Democratics finally moving foward!!!"

Hey do you guys remember when O.J. was on MNF? When he wasn`t kissing Marcus Allen`s butt he was so toungue-tied and studdering at any excitement they had to "Go down to the Field" How about Howard Cossell?

I am in my 40`s and have watched MNF since its inception in 1970 and all the losers on it like Frank Gifford, well not Frank but his wife.

Love SNL and lets see what Dennis-Get-A-Haircut-Miller can do for sagging ratings

I`M READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!! :D

I gotta agree on this one...Dennis Miller could prove to spice things up-Boomer was just so funny-but it was more laughing AT him, and not WITH him-does Dennis Miller...oh wait...I am thinking of Dennis LEARY....NOW THAT changes things!!! Dennis Leary would be pretty funny..I think Dennis Miller does lots of drugs-or at least, it seems like it on his show

I'm no Dennis Miller fan either. Wonder how long it will take before his HBO vocabulary slips out on Monday night. Stereo... is sounding good. There are times where I like Rush, but the wind blowing out of the bag er I mean booth, might ruin a critical field goal.

If they had to get a comedian, why not Bob Nelson? He does a great football bit. Though for New York games, maybe Andrew Dice Clay of Jackie Mason would be more suitable.

I guess instead of getting rid of the distractions (Boomer talking about how they should have run the play this way, etc) we will have more. I wish they would stick to the play-by-play and leave the rest of the crap out.

Do you like Madden? I'm kind of torn in my opinion of him: sometimes I like his folksy BS and comic strip exclamations; other times I am really irritated by his over-obvious statements and marginal coherance.

I like Madden and Summerall the best but the old guy (Pat) is starting to miss a thing or two occasionally.

I think of Madden as the Dick Vitale of football. I can't stand listening to him. I am glad they didn't pick Rush.

I am glad they didn't pick Rush too, just would not be MNF with him in there. I like Al though they guy does an excellent job on play by play, I wonder who Al would pick. I doubt he is a reefer so I don't think he'll respond here...wait what's that I hear??? it's Al wispering through the firewall...he says...pick Marv...Pick Marv...LOL ROFL

After a hard QB sack.... Denis says
"man that guy went down faster than a 16 year old on prom night"

lets hope they run a 7 second delay so that they can a least bleep him.

Just curious how many of those who don't want Rush for the job actually listen to him on a daily basis?

aLittletank

Rush actually has more of a sports backround than Denis Miller

Rush broadcast for the KC Royals before he started his own show. I think he would have been a great choice. Half the fans would have loved him half would have hated him. That was the key to Howard Cosell (sp)

Dennis will have to find a new angle though. His "king of the obscure referance" bit wont play out well for MNF fans IMO

If all else fails I can turn down the sound and turn up the radio broadcast. There is a time lapse though.

You want a sports background.
You want something easy on the ears and eyes.
Gabby Reece maybe?

She could probably kick the poop out of some NFL players too.

Hope your house didn't get flooded out up there last week, Dave.

'NOT' getting NFL in Manila?
That would be obscene :)
The broadcasts are delayed half a day though, to accomodate primetime advertising rates, except for the Superbowl, which is always truly LIVE.

P.S. I had to bribe my brother to look after my tanks.

No flood at my home but thanks for asking.
