I think it would be nice to have a program or bank of clocks, whatever, displayed somewhere on the bb's that tells what time it is here in the US, in the UK, the phillipines, australia, etc. There could be maybe 5 or 6 areas of the world represented and we could change it at will. Any idea how to set this up? We could replace our nav bar in the footer with this thing--it will accept html code.

I think I just partially answered my own question: a simple line of text with each location displaying the amount of hours plus or minus from the board time. Like:
West Coast: -2, UK: +8, Phillipines: +25

That would be an easy one. The trick would be to get the locations to display the actual time; in other words, have it tied in to the time set by the UBB software.

Hmmmm. I think I'll have to check the UBB forums for a hack like this. :)

Hehehe. Turns out someone else thought this would be a good idea, and wrote a hack for it. http://www.vhlinks.com/cgi-bin/vhlforum/worldtime.cgi

Now to see if I can get ahold of it. :)

What a great idea! It would certainly be beneficial in knowing about the "timeliness" of our questions & answers! If nothing else, a link to something like this http://www.isbister.com/worldtime/ would be helpfull. On a related topic, how about a measurement unit calculator? Liters-Gallons, ppm-meq, *C-*F, etc?

Hey Larry,
The atomic-clock people used to offer sync with their service...You might want to check them out and see if they still do... :)

Just a thought...jim

Jim--I tried the atomic clock page, but IE doesn't support their program. :(
I agree, we should have a page that converts to liters, meters, etc. I downloaded a program last week that does a great job of this, maybe John can come up with something to cover that.

Larry what a great idea, bith for time and measurements. Thats been the hard part of being online, especially IRC, getting used to the different time/day thing. I needd to get a nice big current world map to see where everyone is, my 49 yr old memory unit is starting to send me lots of error messages, :D

Ok, John conquered the conversions--would all you people who live by the metric system check this out and let us know if we have all the necessary components, please?

Once again, John rules. :)

Too cool! I'm an "incher" but I know my metrics pretty well. Everything tested fine for me! Now, when we get a new international visitor with, say, a 300 Liter tank, we can quickly find its (~80G) equivelant! Will this be a featured button in most of the message windows?

I like it too. I think it could be added as a button on the navigation bar with no problem.

John is earning over time pay today, the world clock link is already on the nav bar. I don't think the Phillipines is represented yet, but Bangkok supposedly has the same time as Manilla.
Martyn, is the London time right for you?
Who else hails from distant shores? :)

If anyone wants a really nice world clock for absolutely free, go to this site run by a German fella: http://www.programming.de/
He has a list of other freebies too. There are two world clocks, one is smaller--just 142 kb download. Very cool.
