I have one...and Have never had a Algea problem. Knock on wood.. he is pretty entertaining too... I imagine if I had 2 one would starve.. considering theres not much for them to eat .... Jake might need his tank mowed :)

well i picked up the sailfin from liveaquaria because they claimed that it would eat hair algae.... but it doesn't. eventually between those 2 and my kole somebody's gonna starve to death.... since none of them are touching the hair algae! :D

Reagon, Greg, blennies with SPS , is asking for trouble- IMHO. they will nip at everything! if you are looking to get rid of alage- "Micheal Jackson" my sea-hare is the BOMB! (really Marvins sea-hare now)

i've got a sea hare in there now that i got from jake, he's busy but it's a long road ahead of him :-) i may end up taking those little guys to all-pet or fish safari. i'm thinking about getting a fox face if i can find a smaller one.

Greg, you should get one like kathy's. That fish was cool.

watch out for the sea hare if it gets caught in a powerhead you can say good night to your system

my algae blenny is fine in my tank, does not touch the corals and is a very cool fish. the best personality in a fish i have ever had.

spshead, do you have first hand experiance with seahares killing your sps by getting caught in powerheads? (what kind) I have heard many a tale, but no-one seems to know for sure! just like the inking of them- I have never hear of anyone that says thiers inked- I read that they lose ability after being in aquariums a few weeks. I am not trying to be a smart AZZZ or trying to knock anyone- just trying to gather reliable info. Thanks, CBD

dude i'm to the point where i'm seriously contemplating breaking my tank down and pullin all that sand out of there and goin with a bare bottom to see if the hair algae clears up. i ran a dsb on my last tank and i didn't have any problems like this but i'm sick and tired of looking at this crap and i honestly can't think of anything else that would be causing this stuff to grow. i feel like if i am gonna drain it i might as well drill some holes in the back of it for a closed loop too :D i doubt i'll do that though, probably gonna pick up a couple of those seio 1100's instead....

Greg, you have invested alot! do not give up- there are alot of people to help you out! 1: forget the fish ----------- 2: you use ro/di? 3: do you have TDS meter? can you post pics of tank? 2 mj's?

GREEGGGGGGG DO IT MAN...Drain it out.. :) :)

Joking aside

I Just went through this.... And Im much happier...but damn if it didnt take sum money and time to do it... Just to drain my tank down transfer everything to my 55G temporarily...haul the tank.. have it drilled Internal overflow box created, new plumbing ...etc ended up costing me almost $300 and about 2 weeks time. by the time I set everything back up and got it running again.. But damn it was worth it..I am much happier with my tank now If you need some advise or help... let me know.. I will help ya out.. between me randy and Jake down here in Hampton roads...we can get you straight

Ohh And charlie is Right.. RO/DI makes a big differnce in our area !! Its a must!

If you do not have ro/di -you need to start there! and one of the big sea hares for quick clean -up! 25% water change now- 20% water changes a month!

Hell I'm game! Greg, been there and felt the same way!Have you tested for PO4 and NO4?My ha didn't just go away, I had to go to war with it. Like I said twice a week water changes, pulling it out, and high PH above 8.3. You can beat it just don't miss a water change and pull out as much as you can.I would all so add another power head, the Seios rock.Call me if you need a hand with anything. I have test kit to test for just about everything.
