Hello, i have a 46 gallon bowfront tank and its mainly softies but will be also adding some sps. I was hoping to add some more lighting because i guess more is better!! i have a 2x96watt corallife(one bulb actnic, one 10k).
Question is: I have about 4 inches x 20 inches open. Basically the whole "bowfront" part of the tank. So i was wondering if i have room to fit another type of light. i have no canopy of anything now, so i dont thnk heat is an issue.
I saw a MH light about 4 inches by 3 inches in someones nano cube but can't find the thread. anyone know about this?? anything else you recommend??
(the tank is 20 inches deep)
Thanks for your input!!!!

Hi,
I've read about people using 70W DE metal halides before and that would fit perfectly. I know that some work light fixtures at hardware stores come with them for a good price... I am just wondering how much choice you would have as far as spectrum goes. Looking farward to seeing some responces to this....

nah that isnt the one i was talking about, the one had a MH in the flap area, like when u open to feed the cube, the light blinds you.
but thanks alot, cause that is a sweet idea for my other nanocube!!

some at nano-reef.com have used a regent halogen fixture and modded it to hold a mh, using mh ballasts. I'm not sure that would be small enough for the area you're looking to cover. I don't know how you would mount anything to the bow anyway.
