Sand bed depth for a 10g?

I am just about finished with the construction of my 10g setup and curious if anybody has suggestions on the depth and makeup of a sand bed for a tank this size.

Go with aragonite sand and a depth of about 1 1/2-2" is plenty.

I just get a 10 lb bag of the aragalive live sand and go with however deep that makes. I shoot for anywhere between 1 and 2 inches. With a deeper tank I go a little higher for a DSB.

my 10g tank has been up and running for well over a year now and seems to be doing well with a 2" sandbed. i have a crushed coral base with bio-active on top. i don't remember the pound-age off the top of my head, but i'm sure i posted it somewhere at one point. i'll try to track that down.

Research shows that a DSB has no effect on small tanks such as nanos. That said, a shallow sand bed is better than a DSB. THe sand in a nano is ussualy jusr for looks, unless one keeps a jawfish or shrimp/ goby. Even better for a nano is going barebottom, or using starboard. THis allows quike and easy access to debris and such.

Thats why people like me put a 5" sand bed in there nanos to show people they can do it AHAHAHHAHA

^It can be done, but that doesn't mean it would be enough to help. Plus, most people wouldn't want half their tank to be sand...

A 12" high tank with a 5" high DSB sounds more like an ant farm than a reef tank. I'm not out to prove or further the DSB depth debate. 2" inches is what I was thinking and seems fine.
