I think we should change it to greenville reef society.

keep the confusion to a minimum.

or to hide the real reason we do "group buys'. ;)

Nah - I like the name. Gives people a chance to get the wrong impression...:)

When is the next meeting of the Greenville Reefers Society? I'd love to join you.... I have a new tank, 75 gallons with nothing except base rock in it, trying to choose the right lighting and am getting a lot of different opinions from local stores.....can't wait to buy, so I can finally buy some live rock and start my process of hurrying up to wait! I'm learning quickly, this hobby isn't for the impatient!

I don't think you need to wait for lighting to ad live rock to your tank. Just as long as you can control the temp of the water and have some good flow you can start cycling your tank. As far as lighting it really depends on what you want to keep in your tank and how much you want to spend.
