I made the overflow out of black acrylic. It is 5" by 5". I used this website to help me make the notches:

Thanks for your kind comments. The open space in the right center is where the clams will go. I am planning to put a monti cap on the right or left side of where the opening is on the back. it will be epoxied

How is the Mag7 wprking a a return with the SCWD. I am setting up a 29 and am going to use a SCWD but was thinking about a Mag 9.5 or 12 for get the proper flow. Do you have a problem with the SCWD and the head height cutting down on alot of the flow.

looking good so far...i think 20 longs are the perfect size tanks unless you want to step up to a 75. good luck with it, and i can't wait to see some clams

i use a mag 7 with only bout 2 ft worth of head on my 20 long and i think a 9.5 would actually be beter for sps....as a matter of fact i want to upgrade to a 9.5

and this is through a swcd

The MAG 7 with the SCWD is blowing the sand all around in the front and sides of the tank. I think i will be good with the MAG 7. In fact, right return pushes the water so powerfully, i can hear more water get pushed into the overflow. It is a really neat sound, but it got kinda anoying. My cat really likes it, though!
