Hey toast man,
Post a pic when you finish. I just finished mine, looks quite similar to yours with the exception of the unions I have everywhere. I have given my opinion on them before so I won't again. I'll post a pic here of it within a week or so. Also just curious...What kind of pump will you be using?

You might want to put the skimate drain line fitting in the bottom of the skimate cup. This will all all of the skimate to run into the collection device. I love the design you did for the bottom, that is great. How are you going to make it stand up? I ask this because I have two CC skimmers that have pipe 4" PVC caps on the bottom. I tie wrapped them to the wall so that they would not fall over because they are six feet tall. You need to think about how you are going to clean the inside of it because it is made out of clear pipe and algae may well grow on the inside of it. Our two big skimmers are made out of 4" white PVC. They are not as pretty but they stay clean inside. We also have a 4' x 4" CC skimmer that is made of acrylic. Algae grows on the walls of it and the only access into the chamber is through the 2" hole at the top to clean it. :( Please post a picture of it when you are done. :)

Thanks for the input

I will be using a little giant 3-md pump

I have been thinking about moving the skimmate drain line but I have to get the hardware assembled to see how everything fits together

The 4" x 2" reducer that attaches to the clear PVC will not be glued so that I can remove it for cleaning.

I am going to build a wooden stand for it, I will try to post a pic of the stand design when I get a chance.

THanks again for the input

Joel

The link is broken for you pic. I built my skimmer for my 125G. Check it out it's on my site. It cost me about $160 to make. I use a Mag 18 to drive it. eric
