Granite finish on Oceanic

I recently purchased a 58RR Oceanic tank/stand that has a Granite finish on it. The finish is sprayed on the stand...even the door brackets have the spay on them.

Question.....Does anyone know where I can find a identical match Granite spray paint?
I have an IceCap 660 Hood on the way and I thought it would look pretty cool if I could spray the black hood granite to make it match the rest of my tank.

JG--I bought a washed oak tank that had a scratch in the paint. I called Oceanic and they sent me a touch-up kit. Maybe they would sell you the granite paint too.

Talked to Oceanic today and they don't have a *spray* touch up kit...crap :(

Maybe one of the craft stores will have a granite spray...

You can find lots of different granite spray paints in a wide variety of colors and even textures but matching them up will be a little tough. The lucky thing is that because it is a granite paint and not a solid color, an exact match isn't as crucial.

I had to try to match my stand when I built my hood and I got it pretty close but you have to be patient (lots of coats may be required). It doesn't match prefectly but it's so close that you can hardly tell the difference.

Did Oceanic send you a *spray* touch up kit? How much of an area do you think it would cover? I planning on buying a canopy tomorrow, so I'll definalty need to paint it.

You could try a local paint store. Alot of the ones up here sell different colours of granite spray paint. People use them to spray stuff like picture frames and plant pots.

I have an Oceanic granite as well. I've used the granite spray paint too. It's not an exact match. It has a rough texture versus Oceanic's smooth finish. If you use a polyurethane coat, you could probably get a better match!

Hey I have a 58 gallon reef ready Oceanic tank too in granite. Does anyone else have the one like mine with the canopy and stand all one piece? I like the effect and it should do well with PC or VHO lights but attaching something for MH would be alot of trouble unless I could match that finish. So when someone does find a good match, please let us know.
