Can you believe it? Someone actually complained I wasn't posting enough pics of the new setup. ;)

Hey Larry,

I was going to lodge the same complaint, but I saw this pic on your site yesterday. I realize the pic should be enough, but I'm having trouble visualizing the flow over/around the baffles--could you explain it?

On a related topic, what kind of blade do you use to cut acrylic? I've used a thin kerf, 40 tooth, carbide blade which seemed to work fine, but is there something better which doesn't cost a small fortune?

Thanks David

why did you decide to make a new sump?
what was wrong with the old one?

just wondering.

David--The water enters on the end marked "bulkheads", flows under/over the partitions, then exits on the opposite end marked "return pump." The short dividers in the middle are to keep the sand in place for the refugium as the water flows through there.
I use a 40 tooth carbide blade too, just like you would buy for wood. I tried a special acrylic blade once, it didn't work nearly as well for me.

Ch--I sold the old one the day after the big flood, as I thought I was getting out of the hobby, or at least not setting up the tank again. I don't mind though, I love building things out of acrylic. If I had the time I wouldn't mind going into the business.

The part that has me confused are the 2 middle baffles--they appear staggered and very close together (maybe it's just the 2 dimensional photo).
