Can everyone show me their setup for a metal halide on a ten gallon? I'd like a 175 watt but because my tank is in my cubicle at work I can't really do a pendant unless I built a semi hood for it to hang from. But If I built a semi hood then I can build a full hood instead and get a retro fit kit which is cheaper. But I'm worried about the heat issue. Any info would be great!

Thanks!

175 on a ten? wow...that's a lot. it would definitely have to be power vented, and a ways off the tank....normally the general yardstick type of rule is so many watts per gallon, and while i'm not sure what the general concensus is today, 17.5 seems an awful lot. there are 70 watt DE bulbs that would be a better fit.
ther just isn't much depth to a ten.

oh, i use two 55W pc's and a 250W MH 14K on a 29G that's 21" deep. it's quite bright. my two maxima's love it...but they are on the bottom substrate. this give me ~12W/G while all lights are on, but my MH is only on for 4 hrs a day.
