Over the past six months, I have been scouring the web learning about salt water reef tanks (i'm a freshwater conversionist). I recently placed orders from four different vendors.

Marine Depot: No problems, would highly recommend.
Reef Fanatic: No problems, would highly recommend

Pet Sotlutions: No problems, but limited selection.

Big Als Online: One item was incorrect model- quick turn around on the fix. No packing in the box damaged another product - quickly resolved. Same limited selection as Pet Solutions but web site is tougher to browse.

Has anyone purchased from //www.reef-fanatic.com/ ? If so, what was your experience?

I used to deal with ReefFanatic and MarineDepot both but a couple of years ago I started giving all of that business to MarineDepot because Ken is just super to deal with. I never had any problem at all with FeefFanaitc but MarineDepot has a better selection and will match anyones price without any problem. A few days ago I placed an online order with MarineDepot and the next day I got an email from them saying the item had just run out of stock and it would be 3 weeks before they would have more and what did I want to do, switch, cancel, backorder. I have ordered from other places before and you wait two weeks for it to come and you call them or email them and they say Oh we are out of those and it will be six months before we get more. I say it would have been nice if you had told me two weeks ago. This is one of the many reasons that I say MarineDepot is a great place to do business with. They always let you know what is going on.

I have dealt with them.. I bought some PC lights from them... great deal. Everything was packed well. Lights arrived exactly in the time frame they quoted everything was there. No surprises at all. two thumbs up.

I started out using Reef Fanatic whenever I could - Always great to do business with them and the have great prices.
As Snailman pointed out, the problem is their selection is limited. (no Ebo-Jager heaters, no Mag pumps, no 250w PFO hqi ballasts) For that reason I have found myself using Premium Aquatics, whose selection is great, prices are competitive, and custom service is outstanding.

I agree with you. I have done business with them for years and have always been happy. Most of my business has gone to www.marinedepot.com because of the free shipping deal and ken will match anyones price too.

I live about 10 miles from Reefanatic and about 30 miles from Marine Depot. I have delt with Bob at RF many times and he will match price's and always has what I need. MD on the other hand I have delt with once and they were a big disappointment. I called them for a PFO EYE 250 watt ballast, He said it was in stock and I could come and pick it up. You guess it, I drove down there and they didn't have it. Driving down to Orange county on a Friday afternoon is not fun.

I read the other day that these guys used to be partners.

If I can put in my $.02. I have had the reef addiction hard core for some time now and ordered from a lot of places. At this time, I have never been more happy with reeffanatic.com. Bob has gone the extra mile for my business several times and I am very happy. For the most part they are the only ones I order from now.

Woohoo. Thanks.
I have been looking through all the archives and people's comment about great places like marinedepot, jeff's exotic, ffexpress, and now reef fanatics for the last two weeks and I was bum about paying the shipping costs for live rocks and sand. I just realized they are all in Southern California and I am so close to all of them in Anaheim. Now I can really shop around and get a bargain!
