My tank is about 9 months old.

My pods are all over the place. I have no fish to prey on them either. Tank is 5 months old and the pods were introduced from livesand from coral connection. I used 99% dry baserock to start my tank, so it had to be the LS that introduced the pods I have. ;)

I have LS(from Aquatic specialties) and LR(from Aquatic specialties) and I only see a couple of PODS. I have a manderin Goby and he won't eat anything I've tried to feed him. PODS are the only thing I think he will eat. I don't want the little bugger to die of starvation.

Is your LS from AS from a bag or is it the wild kind? The bag LS dosen't have pods that I know of, only bacteria. If you want pods, get a scoop of coralconnection LS to start them. ;)

Yeah it was in the bag.

Ideal conditions for pods would be some sort of densely packed marco algae and/or rock rubble/crushed coral piles. A refugium works best for this, but piles of rocks in the tank can be made so that the mandarin can get to the pods and it gives them a place to breed. Also, feeding live phytoplankton can help to boost the pod population.

Also, in time you can/should be able to get the mandarins eating prepared foods.

Also, check out the club website as your more likely to get views there. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/brreefclub/

Brine shrimp alone WILL NOT keep him alive. At least that's the common thought.

Yea I know. That's why I'm asking for a cup of sand with pods in it. To try and restablish a population.

If you really want to boost the pod population I would suggest dosing some live phytoplankton as that will really get them going. I have a pair of mandarins in my 120 since day 3 I had to feed them 2-3+ times a day so they wouldnt stave until my pod population picked up. I started dosing live phytoplankton every other day (2 cups) and now a month and a half later they are good to go.

I'd be more than happy to give ya a cup, BUT I only have like 5 lbs of LS in my 30L mixed in with some old seafloor I rinsed and reused. I love my substrate, but you don't want it. ;)
