for a 29 reef what would you sue for filtration?

i am thinking of using an ac 500 fuge and a homemade skimmer. i dont want to use a sump. what else should i use besides this? what about carbon, phosban, etc. thanks

I'm not sure about the sponge deal, but an ac500 and small skimmer would be ok

Hey chadfarmer how is the 250W MH doing on the 29. I am setting up a 29 now and dont know if I want to put my 250MH on it for stonies or just my 220PC and do softies. Do you have any heat or evap issues.

Thanks

Depends on what you decide to keep and how heavy you are soing to stock the tank. If you are going to do all SPS and LPS then I would say yes. If you are only going to do a few stony corals then I think it would be cheaper to just do the regular water changes to replace lost minerals as well as some 2 part additave for Ca and CO3.

I'm not him but i thought i'd give you my experience. I have a 29 with 250w MH pendant and a 10 gal sump. I evap about 3/4 gallon a day. The MH is awesome on this tank, just perfect. I have a mixed reef btw.

Ok cool. I am going to have a 29 gallon sump so the water fluxuations should not be that bad. Thanks impur

here is what i wanted for a stocking list. 2-percula clowns, 1-royal gramma, some other fishe(s) maybe a goby?, turbo snails, cleaner shrimp, an anenome(can i keep one under pc's? if so how many watts of it?), some corals but dont know what kind yet.

Stick to one other small fish. A goby would work.
