View Full Version : Using acrylic or glass to make "divider" in glass aquarium sump

I want to use 30g glass aquarium as a sump, but I want to add a "divider" so that the "dirty" overflow water is on one side and the skimmer can disharge the "cleaned" water on the side with the return pump. Of course the "divider" will allow for water balance/equalization between the two sides, but I though some separation might avoid the skimmer drawing in the same water over and over.

The question is what is the best way?. Can I simply use a cut piece of glass or acrylic as a divider and attach it with silicone? Would epoxy be better?

Silicone should work just fine, expoxy holds a little better and may allow you to glue the divider without empyting the sump and waiting for the silicone to dry.
