I am thinking of adding a refugim to my new set up (120 gallon 4') to assist in getting rid of the nitrates produced by the wet/dry filter with the lovely bio balls.

Can anyone give me advise of setting one up in Bermuda? Lighting / flow / substrate / plants / other stuff I need?

Peter,

You and I are in the same boat. I'm looking to do the same thing.

I've got a rubbermaid sump with a protien skimmer and a bioball/floss tower in it, so I'm limited with space.

My plan is to add another container if it will fit, keep the PS and bioballs in one, and a second container with a deep sand bed (4-6inches deep) and whatever macroalgea I can find. Looks like the best bet there will be grape caulerpa (caulerpa Rasemosa).

The trick with caulerpa is to keep light on it 7/24 so it won't go sexual and kill everything in your tank. Nothing too fancy required for the light is required from what I have read here.

I'll keep you up to speed as I progress with this project. Feel free to drop me a PM if you want to plan it out together.

Cheers

Rick
