I have this red macro algae that is like leaf lettuce in shape and grows very short and matted, looks good but is getting out of control! Anybody know of any critters I can get that eats this stuff. Ron I left a sample of it at Barrys if you get a chance take a look and see if you can come up with a fish , crab, urchin, or something that will eat this stuff. Trying to remove it manually has not been successful

my yellow tang loves the stuff I can't keep it in the tank more than a few hours.

Pappy I forgot to get back with you yesterday. I put some in the 75 to see the reaction of the YT and the rabbit fish and both loved the stuff.

Pappy, I wouldn't get more than one yellow tang unless you have a 125 gallon tank or larger. :)

Agree with bruce here, they grow faster than you can imagine esp with that much free food.

Not only how fast they grow but they usually cannot tolerate another yellow tang. Most likely in the end there would only be one of them anyway. :)

yep 1 or 3 never 2 is the general rule to tangs. Safer at just 1.

i have a purple that won't tolerate anything that even has the same look as a tang. it wont rest until the other is dead.

sounds like what IPSF calls "tang heaven" You really should bring some to the meeting. I'd love to replace my refuge plants with it.

ok Ill get one tang, had one before but he got a little too aggressive, only 2 clowns in tank now so if nothing else Ill let him have his fill and then take him back to Barrys if he gets outta hand! Ill be sure to bring a couple bags to next meeting , although I think if you put it in your refugium that it would soon take it over . It now covers the powerhead and what went though the power head is now covering my substrate. Every little microscopic piece of this stuff grows where ever it lands, so good luck with it!
