I am starting to set up a new tank.I thought it would be interesting to
post how I was planning the tank and get some feedback.I am looking at
a 140 gallon Oceanic.
Below is the list of what I have purchased and will be purchasing over the
next several months. I have 3 major criteria after it works well and will
support corals
1. Cost
2. Power usage - I do not want an excessive power bill
3. Noise - Stand in living room

I have several questions
1.) does anyone know the web address of Ocean motion?
2.) Is the Velocity Titanium Water T2 Pump quiet/reliable?
3.) Can I use the Ocean Motion revolution with the T2 return?
4.) What is a quality heater to buy?

As far as the heaters go... I think may use the Jager.. as do I... I also have a Pro II Titanium

Not sure on the OM setup tho.. I am sure you will find that info on their site...

Also cannot wait for some pictures of at least a tank tour this summer!?!??!?!?

Mike E is that the same blue girdled Dan has in his tank...? The colors look a bit but what a beauty.....

Thanks for the link.
I plan on Version 3 of the 4-way
- has them opposed,( ie) 1 & 3, 4 & 2, repeated
This will save me buying another return pump
and electricity. It should also create a better current flow
I may add a couple of revolutions.

Yes it is Dan's Blue-girdled angel. They change color
patterns as they get older. I have not compared
with a recent photo but I do not believe it has changed
that much.

I'm a total novice so I hesitate to speak up, but what you list for gallons per hour on that pump sounds awfully low, based on what I've been told (that the gallons per hour should be 10-20 times the tank volume, or in your case, 1400 gallons per hour minimum), and when you add in the loss of power from the height and bends in the pipe, I just don't see how that pump is anywhere near enough??

You are correct that the pump is 650 gph is low.
10 to 20 is a high range. I think 6-10 is a better range.
It would still be low. I am debating going with the T3
or adding a powerhead/wavemaker to the tank.
The additional power and noise of a T3 are my
major concerns. Using a Ocean motion system
will create added currents requiring less gph ???
