putting photo inside thread

anyone know how to actually put a pic in the thread? I keep following the instructions from the website but all i get is the linkhttp://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/66145IMG_0036__Small_.JPG

I just figured it out my self, wish I could tell ya how I did.

Essentially you either need the pic uploaded to another server, or to your gallery here.

You would want to bring up the full-screen version - then right click and select `properties' to get the full http://address of the photo.

Then go here, type this in without the spaces
[ IMG ]photo-http-address-here[ /IMG ]

No spaces before + after the IMG /IMG and your picture should appear.

Think there's a limit of pics per post. Some non-RC servers will not allow such linking - so I've generally just used the gallery here as people will also look [compliment you] on your good shots randomly then :)

i followed the directions that is what is driving me nuts. Someone else tried doing it in another post and they said it was the website. I don't know but i did post the pic of my tank in the gallery

Are you posting a pic from RC or another site.

Most other reef sites don't allow that - could be the problem?

Otherwise - it's in your gallery here?

I'll walk you through what happens when I try to do it. Let me know if you have problems with steps, or different things happen - let me know where that happens and we can figure out which part is the problem.

Ok, so first you would go to your gallery, to that photo's page:

Which in this case would be http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=81036&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500

Mouseover the picture. Right click - at the bottom of the menu that pops up will be `properties'. Select that option.

Up comes a window, with a bunch of information.
Down about mid-point should have a line:

Address:
(URL)

to the right of that is normally two lines of text.

You can either manually type that [pain] or else highlight that text. With it highlighted, either hit ctrl-c or right click and select copy.

Ok, now [hopefully with the post you want open in the full post mode [not the quick reply at the bottom of the thread]] ... go to the post you want to put it in.

[I'll describe a second way how to do this below, but this one now- it's simplest]

Above the reply text box there's some buttons ... http:// then @ then IMG. Hit IMG

up comes a `script prompt' with a text box. You will want to paste here ... either through selecting the text in there [http://] and right clicking - select paste.
Or, hit ctrl-v and it will paste as well. [I use this cut/paste - same as on Word,etc - mostly now].
Hit ok on that window.

You'll see that it should have put in this exact text [minus spaces] as the very last text in your post.

When you hit submit, `there it is'
