Is it ok to glue the foot of Xiena to a rock or it is better to let it attach on its own? Thanks

Glue the xenia but you have to do it quickly after you get it out of the water on the account of the slime. If your gonna let it attach, just have sure you have them in a low flow area.It will take 3-4 day for a healthy xiena to attach(sometimes less).
They are kinda like mushrooms so the glue is a temp thing until thy attach themselfs.

I've never had luck glue-ing xenia, but maybe some have. After a couple unsuccessful attempts - I just gave up and let it settle on rocks before placing it.

The trick is do it fast some that you don't get a lot of slime.

Thanks. I got a real nice frag last night. Pulsed in the bag all the way home. It's in the basket now, sitting on a rock, still pulsing.

Same here, only ours just kinda floats around the tank and occassionally gets buried by our Mama Maroon.

best way to do it is take needle and thread and tie it where you want it and let it attach and then pull thread out. Worked well for me.

I have had only moderate luck with super glue gel. The xenia will come off eventually unless it has other rock to attach to natrually. The best way I have found to get xenia to attach is to drop it in some kind of frag box with CC substrate and wait 3 or 4 days. Good luck.

Man, we (richmond r/c) do have a following!!!

When I used to prop them-- I set a rock along side of them and allowed them to grow onto rock- 1 to 2 days would do. maybe you can allow it to settle- set rock on top- it will attach?

---- BTW, I tried rubber bands---- Not!

The foot has a small piece off to the side, so I wrapped a rubber band around it. Seems to be working. Thanks for all of the input.

I've used both 2lb test and black cotton thread loosely wrapped around the stalk with good results. With super glue, I just ended up with a string of explitives leaving my mouth.......>: (

HA..rubberband seems to be working just fine. Looks like it has attached but I'm going to leave it be for now. Still pulsing.

good deal. As long as the rubberband doesn't trap any nasties, you're in good shape, which, by the pulsing, speaks for itself.

Took the rubberband off today and all is good. Later.
