We have all seen this tread before- But the new thing- people we know!!!! Having just set up a 180, I believed a single mag 18(1800gph) would be more than enought flow- wrong!! so , I added a power head I had (1000gpm), IMHO, still not enought---
You can't argue with success, What kind of flow do YOU have???

Sundrangon/ Scarlet??? Brandon? ETC, ( to many to mention)

I have a Mag 9.5 return pump and a Tunze 6100 on a controller in my 75 gallon tank and I think I have plenty flow. I was tempted to get another 6100 but I think I am going to wait till I up grade to a 90 gallon tank. From what I have seen in my tank one Tunze is fine but two in a 75 gallon tank would be a bit over kill. Just my opinion though

I am a flow fanatic.
My plumbing design:

As you can see, I have a return pump with 2 outlets, a closed loop with 4 outlets (2 are on a SQWD), and back in October, I added two Tunze Stream pumps. There are still a few dead spots, and virtually no directed flow behind my rocks. So I have still got a ways to go. In fact, I will most likely need to break down my current set up to really get it flowing the way I would best like it

Mike, I like the set-up! a 200w is only heater?

BTW, I never thought I was going to spend more on pumps than on tank. But, Where did you get your tunze?

180 gallon, 2x 6100 tunze, iwaki 40 for return though a squid, 3x 1200 maxijets, 2x 820 sieo, would like 2 more iwaki 30 though for a closed loop that would be ideal.

Tommy, just curious are you running the Sieo's on a wave maker?

BTW, Streams have a low water alarm built in for those of you with streams, you dont want to know how I found that out though!!

OK, you have a fish on the hook, let us know!!

BTW, will a 950gpm (aquaclear 901) , non pressure rated pump be "enoff" for one of your 5' skimmers? I really do want to try one!!!
