Why do companies do that?

They might get it from the same manufacture. Marketing has a lot to do with it and distribution.

The MEI is a drop counting method and less accurate.

The Salifert is a professional quality titration kit with a special reagent dispensing and measuring syringe.

Also the reagents are quite different.

You know, that's what I like about RC. Only here, would the CEO of Salifert be on-line and able to address the issue directly. Pretty cool. (That is of course unless that is really a 12 year old kid pretending to be the CEO of Salifert) Hee Hee. ;)

He not one of our regulars! Hey, Habib

If send me one of your test kits, I will test it and one by MEI ---

Then post my opinion, on RRC----- btw, I use seachem for cal. test allways have- so no prejudgement on my part (at least of the 2 in question!)

It does say Titration on the box of MEI. And it does have the syringe too. But what do I know.

Hey Mike,

That's pretty interesting. How fine is the syringe? The salifert has two syringes (one that is large bore), the one for adding the saltwater to the titration vessel and then the other syringe (for titration) is much finer and has a very fine eppi needle attachment that goes on it... The eppi attachment is probably your standard 20 to 200 microliter size.

Do the MEI kits look like that? I really like the syringe approach as it is far more accurate than the drop method.

Peace,
John H.
