Thanks. What do i need to run them (ac adapter?) do they sell it? IF so is it ready to be plugged into the fans or would ineed to mod it?

Thanks

you will need to mod it, not a big deal, go buy a power adapter from radio shack. its about 10.00 I will post a pic of my fans on monday, and the power adapter..

i reciently bought 150 fans (40mm) size to make kits to sell. I got them for a crazy cheap price and if you could use the smaller ones i can hook you up. as far as ac adapters go, radio shack is good for local. But there are some web sites that have them for $2.00. let me know if you need the sites. Just make sure that you get an adapter that is powerful enough for the fans you want to power.

1 A = 1000 mA
300 mA = .3 A
.008 A = 80 mA

40 mm would be too small. Thanks for the info..

How many adapters do i need to power 2 fans? Does radio shack sell the male/female plugs too?

just one of those for the two fans, I cut the wire and spliced them together. I belived I wired them in series..

<fan1> + <fan2> + + <power apapter>
<fan1> - <fan2> - - <power adapter>

./hope that helps.

so i can just join the 2 fans and adapter all at one point?

Thanks

if each fan is .26 A that is 260 milliamps (mA)

so you could run 5 fans off of a 1500mA (1.5A) ac adapter.

if you only want to run 2 fans you could use a 600 mA ac adapter.

As far as connectors.... cut them off. I would use heat shrink tube to seal out all water. slide it on, twist them together, heat it, and don't worry about it.

You could get a pair of 120 mm 12volt fans at compusa and then the adapter shown from radio shack. That is what I have. They are quiet and move a good bit of air.

From your nifty diagram, you wired them in parallel which is correct. Wiring all the + together and all the - together will give 12V to each fan. The amps required by the power adapter will be double that of a single, though.

James, if you are worried about low voltage adaptors and such, get a 110 volt fan. I got several 110 volt fans at Radio Shack. They might cost more though. No problems for years. I have one hole for the fan and one hole for the exhaust on the other side, and no other vents. It works like a champ. I have tried to convince people to use fans to keep it cool instead of a chiller for years, to the point I dont try anymore. I cover the inside of the hood with aluminum foil coated foam about 1/2inch thick, I think its called Celotex. Home Depot. I glue it in and seal the edges with shiny aluminum duct tape. It does not raise the temp hardly at all. The foam keep the hood from turning into a heat sink. The fan blows in cool air and the opposite side hole exhausts the heat. See Ya, Steve.

I bought a 120V RadioShack fan. It does work, but it sounds like an airplane. :o

Thanks everyone. I think iam going to get the 120mm fans from the site listed above and get the adapter from radioshack.

Steve, I have very very little room around the bulbs and stuff so i dont think i can use the foam if i understood right but iam going to use the shinny duct tape. I plane to have one fan on the left side and one on the top middle.

Thanks
James
