My TDS meter is on the fritz, so I'm not exactly sure how my water is doing, but my guess is that my filters probably need to be replaced. How often do you change your various stages?

We've had our 'Typhoon' from airwaterice.com for about a year now and haven't changed the filters yet. Our TDS reading is 2-3. We'll be changing them shortly just because.

Rules of thumb:

sediment - every 6 months
carbon - every 6 months
RO membrane - 1 to 3 years
DI resin - 1 to 9 months

You can get substantially longer out of your sediment filter if you have a pressure gauge and don't see any pressure drop. same for the carbon block, as long as you are careful re the block's chlorine capacity.

To test your RO membrane you'll need a tds meter - also watch for decreased production from the membrane as an indication it needs to be replaced.

To test your DI resin use your tds meter.
