a friend of mine bought a used tank/rock/fish recently, and it came with this guy. the previous owner called it a 'blue naso'.

It looks like some sort of unicorn tang. They are in the same genus or species as the naso. The word naso is in the scientific name.

It looks like a valmingi or pallini tang. I have a juvenile valmingi in my 180. Great fish, what size tank did your friend buy.

i think it's only a 120 but it might be bigger. he was looking at several used packages and i don't know which of them he picked. i have't seen it yet, he's actually a client of mine who lives in raleigh. i'm sure i can talk him into a 220 in a few months. i'm especially impressed with how nice the copperband looks. fat and great color. i *really* need to feed mine more.

That's a vlamingi, He gets really, really, really big. (that's only sub adult coloration, he generally won't get all his colors until he's about 18-20 inches with a max length of about 24 inches) MAn it's a good looking fish. (Naso vlamingi)
