Okay the price I have worked out is 45.oo each plus 13.00 shipping. Split shipping by 5 is 2.60 each for a total of 47.60 each this is the model that has a light when you push the button. It is on ebay for 49.99 plus 8.50 to ship which makes them 63.00 provided you can win the bid for the 49.99. Okay here is the model and information.

BRAND NEW salinity refractometer model ZGRS10ATC. This is a top quality refractometer with glass prism. It is easily focused by turning the eyepiece. This refract comes with a hard case, sample dropper and calibration screwdriver.

LOW LIGHT? JUST PRESS THE BUTTON AND TURN ON THE ILLUMINATION!

I think it would be a great benifit for anyone who would like to have a more stable grip on whats really going on with the salinity in our systems. I need at least one for the shop, let me know how good of a deal you can get.

Is this one $37.50 plus shipping?

It appears to be the same as the one from Sun Aquatics.

I hate to step on anyone's toes but I talked to the guy that I bought my refractometer from. He told me that if we can get 10 people that want to buy them we can have them for $34.99 each. Shipping should be very low since they will all be shipped together.

I believe he normally sells them for $39.99 just in case we don't find 10 people that wants one.

Anyway, just trying to help out some.

I am in.

I think all of them are the same model.

I could care less who it comes from, hopefully the cheapest, it appears the one Bruce mentioned is the least expensive.

I will add this to the conversation.........I have two hydrometers that I use, one a Coral Life Deep 6 - I perfer because the excess water runs out so you do not have to attempt to match it to the line level. I asked Bruce to check it for me and it was off 0.003.

So I thought my water was 1.024, it was actually 1.027. My second one made by Aquarium Systems, Seatest was off 0.001 and it is much older.

Bruce mentioned a few months back a similar comment, he was surprised how far his Hydrometer was off. I suspect that most of our similar equipment is off, both of mine measure low resulting in excess salt.

I am definitely in.

All we need is someone to step up and say that they are placing the order.

They are awesome, both my tanks were off. I'll fix it tomorrow as I wanted to calibrate to make sure it was still acurate after shipping from CA. Mine was not so I calibrated it. Mom's however was perfect without adjustment. So get some distilled water to have ready when you pick them up.

Mary, so how far off was your hydrometer?

mcox33
04/07/2005, 08:35 AM
about 3 points low so when I thought it was 23-24 it was 20-21 two tanks the reason for 2 numbers. and that was before I refill 2 days evaporation, so it is probably in the 18-19 range when the tanks were full. Who would have thought it could be so far off. If you need them Barry has 2 or 3 to sell, but not at the price I got them for,.

04/07/2005, 08:38 AM

Mary, I just want to thank you for all your help! I received mine and found my swing-arm Aquarium Systems hydrometer to be reading .001 (specific gravity) higher than the refractometer at 78* F. I'll compare the two with a coldwater reading tomorrow and see how far off the swing-arm is. This is an awesome and easy-to-use tool that is definitely worth the price, especially with this deal! I'm still amazed by the accuracy and how it makes the others look like a child's toy, lol! Thanks again!
