Hey all, Just wanted to post pics of a couple frags from the last auction. This first one is a pink bird's nest that did not make it home with me-- I was outbid. It did not like its new home and was brought back to Jo Mars. I'm trying to nurse it back to health and it seems to be hanging on but not really improving... yet. I remain optimistic but I must admit, this guy needs a prayer or two. We'll just have to see what happens.

this one is an orange digitata that never quite looked right for a long time. You can see the die-back at the base to about an inch up. You can also see the nice healthy polyps coming out on the top half, nice puffy, velvety flesh and even about an eighth inch of new growth at the tip. This on will be really nice in a couple months.

I'll cut off the dead part in a month or so and mount it. Geez, I don't even know where I want it just yet.

Sorry about those pics! How do I get them a little smaller? Photoshop says the image is only 4.8x5.8 inches on the bottom photo and 8.8 x 6.6 on the top one. I don't know what is happening here.

Choose IMAGE then from there "Image Size" Make sure "constrain proportions" is checked. Change the width to 400 Pixels. Set your resolution to 75 Dpi and hit ok. Now go to "FILE" and choose "save for web" tweak the paremeters till you get your file size down and save for web. Should look something like this:

Well, I think perhaps the pink birds nest is turning the corner. The flesh has stopped receeding and it appears to actually be puffing up a little. I'll bet it will take a month for the polyps to come out (if it continues to get better.

Ughh, definately not looking too good. Unfortunately the person that originally bought the birdsnest didn't have the lighting that it needed. :(

Regardless, I'll be bringing you a piece of birdsnest and another strain of orange digi to the next meeting. :) Unless for some reason that birdsnest does pull thru. Keep me up to date on it.

Hey, the digi is doing great. I'm still wondering about the bird though. Still looks the same.

Check out the difference a couple weeks has made! I cut and pasted a side by side in this first photo. Notice the lip beginning to form where the arrow is. Also look at the increase in girth and length and new polyps where the brackets are.

Of course the pink birdnest isn't doing so well but it is still hanging on and I am still optimistic.

Good news! The pink bird's nest has just turned the corner! The polyps started coming out today! There is only a patch of living flesh about half the diameter of a pencil eraser left but it is on its way back to good health. Whew! It was touch and go there for quite a while. Now I'm anxious to see how quickly it grows and spreads and whether it encrusts the old skeleton or grows straight up and out like the orange digi did. I am amazed at the sheer determination of this little frag to hold onto life. Just ask Ron what it looked like when it was brought back in to the pet shop (or heck, look at the earlier pics posted here. Sad and feeble indeed)-- he absolutely did not think it would survive and I had my doubts as well. The orange digi is looking better than ever and here in a few minutes when I'm done pasting one photo on the other, You can see the growth of the "pink" Milli (actually, it's purple but I'm thrilled-- at least it ain't brown. Why the hell do people propogate brown sps anyway???). One photo is of less than stellar quality but you can certainly see the improvement in overall health, polyp extention, and growth.

OK-- here is a shot of the frag when I got it shortly after the last meeting color shifted with photoshop to some sort of puke-green (for contrast) overlayed on top of the frag as it is now so you can clearly see the growth-- both up and down.

Here is the frag in a side by side with the colors left alone so you can see that the intensity of the purple has increased. Much better polyp extension too.
