If anybody is considering ordering some corals (SPS) online, but don't want to pay all that money, or don't want an entire colony, let me know, because I'd be happy to split some small colonies with people, since i'm only interested in frags.

Dr. Mac got some nice new arrivals in, and PhishyBusiness also has lots of good stuff right now. I especially want to get a table acro, so if anybody is up for a challenge, lets try to get one

Hi Jason,
This brings up something that you and I have
talked a little about in the past, A COTM for us.

I would like to take a poll and see how many wolud be interested in doing a "coral of the month" so to speak.
Where we as a club would buy a coral and split it up.

For example...
If an acro costs $100.00 and 10 people want a frag
the frags would cost $10.00 each.

This way we can get frags of some nice colorful corals
that we would not normally go out and spend big money on.

So If this is something that anyone is interested in LMK.

Sounds like a plan to me. I could probably hold the corals till the meeting, but space is limited in my tank. Check this guy out.

He also has a frag pack, 8 frags for $ 100.00. Shipping is the killer. It is usually around $ 45.00. I just worry about fragging a wild colony so quickly after it enters captivity. With the frag packs, you get a colony that is established and adapted to captivity.

Sounds like the safest bet for our money. I'm game.

I'm still trying to grow a new $10 bill that I fragged a few years ago. It never seems to grow.:D

Guys- I usually buy from a guy in Charlotte, NC. I was talking to him about buying some corals for the "new tank" and saw this thread. These are his prices on the corals that he has available right now. Everything that I have ever got from him has done wonderful in my tank. The frags that he sends are very large compared to what I have recieved from different internet companies. And as a added bonus- the shipping is about $10 for roughly 8 frags. Since he is in Charlotte, he can ship them UPS ground and they will still be here the next day. Anyway if anyone is interested, please let me know. Maybe we can talk about a time to do this.

wow, i see lots of stuff i would buy. he doesn't have a website does he? How would we go about placing an order with him? at $10 for shipping we wouldn't even have to make a group buy, unless everybody wanted to. If we end up making one, here's the list of what i'd order:

Green table w/ light tips
rose acro w/ blue tips
teal stag w/ blue tips
green birdsnest

I agree he has made shipping mistakes with other people. I can only go on the 3 times I have bought from him. I have never had anything go wrong with his shipments. Everything I have ever received from him was beautiful. You can make your own decision if you would like to order from him. But I will be glad to do a group buy if anyone else is interested.

after i read all the way through both his threads it seems as though he IS better at shipping frags, so i guess we'll have to decide whether we should pay the $10, or drive 3-4 hours to get there, and then 3-4 hours to get back.

Personally, i'd like to see his tank :)

He was the reef tank of the month several months ago. You can seen some of the colonies in that article archive. I'm sorry Rick, I should have read your post more thoroughly. I saw the name reefcrazed and immediately thought of that thread. I seems like he did a good job of repaying all of the people for his shipping mistakes and has gotten good reviews from a lot of people as well.
