My african cichlids have been breading pretty regular, and I have even caught a few of the surviving fry in the main tank, so I thought with this latest batch of eggs, I would give it a try and raise them.

So, I needed a stand that would hold a 10 gallon tank. I headed to the shed around 3:00 and came out at 6:30 with this:

Its made of 3/4" birch plywood, with red oak trim covering the plywood edges. I didnt have any plans, I just winged it all from my head. Not to shabby IMHO. I biggest problem I ran into was my wood glue was frozen, so I had to use screws to put it together. Ill probably stain it when it gets a little warmer outside.

Nice looking stand. Steve. Not bad for 3 1/2 hrs. Almost looks like maple. Nice without a stain

Maybe try tung oil... nice waterproofing and you can always touch it up without worrying about matching the right stain color, etc. Nice looking quick project! I wish I had that kind of skill.

Hey Steven,

Nice job. I love to DIY stuff. Just wish I had more time to do it. This med school thing is really getting in the way of fun activities like life. Haha.

Peace,
John H.
