View Full Version : A question for Reefcentral's webmaster...

Just curious as to what webhost company hosts Reefcentral. I am assuming this is a dedicated server due to the very active community we have here. I am interested in running vBulletin, however, I've found that many virtual server configurations webhosts offer frown upon mySQL driven communities.
I wouldn't mind paying for a dedicated setup but my main concern is reliability and I have yet to see Reefcentral have a bad day. :D
Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hi Allen,
We host our own server. With the amount of traffic we have, most hosting companies want nothing to do with us :D

What kind of server is it running on? What kind of Internet connection are you using? I'm a geek and like to know these things :)

The server is a Compaq Proliant (ML350, I think) with 768mb RAM running W2K Server. The connection is 1.5 mbps SDSL. We have a daily transfer rate of 3-5 Gigabytes :eek2:

HOLY SHIZNIT!!!
Mr Shaman,
Is "Holy whatever" an indication of amazement? I know nothing when it comes to this tech talk.

Wow, I thought for sure with the stability of this site you would be running Linux! Windows has amazed me once again :)

Agu - Yes. 3-5GB daily is quite a bit. If I had to pay for that kind of xfer rate, I'd be broke before by the end of the first day! :)
Me thanks the powers that be once again!!!
