Is there anyone interested in getting the Hattiesburg club going again? I'm going to be very busy for the next few weeks moving to a new house, but I'm willing to put in the time if there is anyone interested.

Let's here from anyone in the Hattiesburg or surrounding areas?

I am intrested. I am in the Jackson Area but Hattiesburg is just a short drive down Hwy 49.

Great, now there are two of us. :) I'm going to print up some flyers and post them around some of the LFS in the area. Hopefully this will generate some more interest.

I'm in Jackson all the time visiting family, I'd be glad to help you guys however I can.

So there are some LFS in Jackson? I've never been able to find any, I'm probably going to be down there after Christmas.

Thanks tiger_eyed1. I don't know about any LFS in Jackson, but there is a pretty good one here in Hattiesburg and the owner is all for getting this club back up and running.

I've never tried to set up a club like this, and I've only ever been to one marine club meeting. Does anyone have any links to sites that can give me some pointers?

tiger_eyed1 basically the only LFS in Jackson is called The Fish Bowl on Hwy 51 in Ridgeland. It's not far off I-55 just as you come into Jackson. Their SW fish selection lacks some but they have 4 large coral tanks and they can get some pretty cool corals in.

jjmg the date must have been off when I posted that because I actually posted that this past December. I would love to help get a Reef Club going. I noticed the one in Alabama seems real active. It would be nice if we could get something going here like that.

hey hey hey,

I[ll send a friend of MACH an email and let you know what I come up with.

A friend of mine here in Vicksburg setup a Mississippi Reefers and Friends club on yahoo (Miss, Alabama, Louisiana, Tenn).... and we've got around 47 people joined..... but, really kinda let it die... But, I just posted on there about getting it going again.

There's nothing better than to have frag trades or ... heck, just bringing corals to give out. That certainly would be ok with me.

I'll be in touch,

The LFS in Jackson is the Fish Bowl. 601.853.0106 398 Hwy 51 Mon-Sat 10-7 Some Sundays (call first). I trade back frags for store credit there

They've got corals and fish. I think they have an good selection of live aquaria. I've never been to the Coral Connection in Kenner, LA or to the Hattiesburg one tho. I've been to the Aquarium of the Americas... and it ain't that big :P

Side note: I am going to the Georgia Aquarium some time! That places kicks butt. 6 million gallon tank. Schools of rays.

I went to the one in Hattiesburg last July and it looked pretty good. The day I went all they had there were young girls running the place and they didn't seem to know too much. The prices on the fish and corals were higher than the Fish Bowl. I haven't been back since the hurricane so I don't know if they are still open or not.

! heck, if I would have known a bunch of college girls were running around in the store.... I would have visited a LONG time ago (hehe).

I think we should round up some people & just have a sort of meeting. Nothing formal, just a get together to see if we can pull it off. Maybe have some kind of frag trading? Although, I know its been a while since anyone has posted here.

yea, I wish we could get enough people to stay interested to have a frag swap. I don't have much to swap just a few candy canes (2- brown & green, 2- white) and green star poly and a small rock with 4 green hairy mushrooms. But at least it would be a start if we could get something together.
