WOW. Just swapped out my old Ushio for a new XM 10k. Good god, it's bright. MUCH brighter than the Ushio. I'll have to see how it burns in, but it's looking pretty good so far (1 hour).

I'll have to give an update after 100 hrs of burn-in time next week.

Yeah I might try some of those too Nate. Frags are looking good. Still got a crocea for you. I'm getting a 400w for my 50 to use for growout next week. Just ordered 16 more frags for the tank . I fragged that Chip's acro for you too for when you frag that pur. BB.

Nate, I hear you have a 400 over your 40? is it the 10k? any artinics? I was think about making my 40 a frag tank. BTW, I any have a 250 on mine now, I wonder if 2-175 hamilton 14ks would be better. I heard you are using the 8500 gen-x at home,thats one !@#$ of a transfer pump for home!!!

yeah. 400w XM 10,000k and 4x 95w VHO URI actinics w/reflectors. 780 watts. just about as bright as the sun!

The 8500 was available for a steal!! I couldn't pass it up. I got it for $60. Just for water changes.....I also use it on service calls. It makes refilling tanks very easy. (I should charge by the job instead of by the hour!!LOL)

YEAH, BABY!!!! I actually have noticed a little pink on my arms if I work on the tank for more than an hour or so. I'm a redhead, so I'm a lot more sensitive than pretty much everyone else. I look at a picture of a beach and I start to peel!!!!!

What would you ever need to go to the beach for? Sprinkle some sand in front of the tanks, put on your sunglasses, a cooler of beer next to you and you're all set. Much better view!!! lol
