Hey all, I got this rascal out of my tank finally, she just molted so I think she was somehow easier to catch, or maybe I was just lucky this time.

Anyway, if someone wants her I will send her out, maybe for some kind of trade? but I need advice on shipping method cause I dont want you to end up with a mantis-popsickle. (its snowing in the midwest right now)

Otherwise she gets to hang out at the local store with all the other overpriced sea creatures.

- Female red stomper mantis.
( I know shes female cause she had an egg cluster from back when I had a pair and they umm... well... they liked each other a lot.):D
- she pushing on 2" right now (fully stretched out)
-bright green and blue markings on the smasher claws, the rest is a rich red, and some little bright white streaks on her antanne.
(i dont know if you actually call them antanne, but thats what they look like.)

Somebody give her a good home!!! A FREE TUPPERWARE with every purchase!!! :p

So glad you posted this pic. That looks like what we finally caught in our tank yesterday. We put it in what was going to be a nano tank to see what happens.

She is doing great. She is out in the open all the time. Well I would not say in the open put in her macro algae patch. But I have had no luck getting a full body shot of her. Or even a good shot of her head. I think she knows when I am trying to catch her on film. At any rate she has changed colors. She is no long solid red. But instead a mixture of colors. Mainly bright green. Almost looks like a peacock mantis but then again she does not. Also every picture I take of her comes out fuzzy. That is even using a tripod. I think the reason it comes out fuzzy is due to the lighting.
I will try of the course of the weekend to get some good picture.

hmm.. I dont really know that much about her, except shes smart and likes to crarck shells all the time... at least in my tank she did, shes in a much better home now. maybe shes a bit more chill.

as far as species, I dont know.
She a smasher that hitched a ride with 2 other mantis on all the rock that I bought from tampabaysaltwater.com so shes a native florida gulf critter. I actually had a mating pair in my tank and didnt know it until I gave away the male. Then a week later I noticed the egg clutch that the female was holding. when the eggs hatched and all larve went to the surface when the light was on I realized it had happened before. (I just didnt know what it was) I could have become a mantis breeder!!! I hear its very hard to do that tho...
