where's the favia?

i've got a piece just like the one here but it's been slowly fading into a light pink light green color....i've read too many things about the lighting needs for favia. high low, you name it i read it. lol. anyone have anything similar to this and if so, where is it located in your tank(in regard to lights, flow, etc). i wasn't sure if the brighter colored colony would be in need of differing care than 'regular' favias. thanks everyone!

here's a pic of what the favia i have looks like....it has faded considerably and i am slightly worried about if it's gonna make it. oh and the exposed skeleton was there when i bought the piece.

It is a very low light variety favia/favites. Keep it AWAY from directly unless your tank is under moderate PC or VHO light. I keep two of mine in a cave. I had it on the sand with light and it faded so I had to move it under the rock. The color came back completely now.

According to the pic you posted, you WILL loose your colony if you continue to keep it in direct light.

I agree with John on that one. I have a frag of the LE favia and it loves light. It all depends on where it came from ( off the reef) IMO

Here is a pic of our prized Favia Speciosa. We've had it since the beginning of August. It is kept in a 55 gallon under 260 watt PCs. It is also kept on the sandbed a little back in the rockwork, not in direct light.
