can sides and bottom be drilled on 125AGA?

I'm pretty sure the sides are o.k. but the bottom is definitely tempered. The 2004 aga guide doesn't say anything about the sides of the tank, but the bottom is, and has been tempered, unless the tank is quite old, with no center braces.

Mine is an AGA (old-style with the corner overflows) and is tempered bottom. Back is cool to drill...

what does tempered mean and what is its significance regarding drilling?

If I understand correctly tempered is saftey glass like your cars winshield, its made to craze and break into little pieces for saftey.(verses huge chunks) So you can't drill it because it makes it shatter.

It's a strengthening process to make the glass much more difficult to crack or break. But as Colleen said, if you drill it, it shatters.
