I want to purchase a RO/DI unit. I only have a 29 gallon, but I will be buying a new tank anywhere from 75-120 in the next month. Can someone tell me who sells a good RO/DI units? I dont want to buy from some shady company who wont be around in a few months. What company is known as a leader in these units? Thanks

Filter Direct on E-bay has 6 stage 130GPD units by Walter Manufacturing shipped for around $125.

Its a great unit and we use it in our store.

I'll second the vote on www.airwaterice.com. I've had a Typhoon 3 for two years. It is well built and Walter is a nice guy to work with.

If you go with the Typhoon 3, get the 75gpd membrane. It has 98% rejection vs the 100gpd's 90% rejection. With 98% rejection, your DI filter will only have to deal with 2% of what is in your tap water and will last a lot longer.

My vote is for airwaterice as well. I've just purchased the typhoon 3. If you have any questions at all Walter is wonderful to deal with. Just give them a call or e-mail. response was within 24 hrs

My filter direct unit is great....I bought the 110 gpd 6 stage with drinking faucet and 3 gallon storage tank.....always have fresh water to drink next to faucet....and can pump out a couple gallons of ro/di top off water in a jiffy!!!paid 135 bucks delivered to the door in about 4 days....

Im trying to decide between Filter Direct and Airwaterice. Airwater ice will send me the Typhoon 1 with a free TDS meter for $152.95 shipped. I hear more people getting 0ppm with airwaterice units than filter direct too..ahhh, decisions decisions!

I personally bought the filterdirect because of the higher gallon per day, as we use it for drinking water also (nice faucet w/3 gallon hold tank)

I have a 125 about to be set up with a 40 g fuge, a 55 reef and a 10 gallon hospital and soon to have a 20g quarantine.....

This can add up to alot of make up water as well as tons of topping off....therefore I need it to work a little faster...I know i will get 1-2 ppm ro/di, but honestly don't feel thats going to hurt my systems much...

whatever you choose, i'm sure you will be happy with your purchase....best money spent on my reef yet!!!!

good luck fellow reefer, and nice avatar btw....(girlfriend maybe??)

After looking at the Airwaterice website I'd have to say I'm rather impressed.
I may have to give them a call when I change cartridges next time.

I have had two Kent Marine units.
70 gallon per day that I used to use in my store with over 10.000 gallons in fish.
30 GPD that I used at home with about 1,000 gallons of fish.
Both worked flawlessly for me with the exception that I realy should have had a bigger unit at the store to keep up with extra water evaporation during the winter months.
