I broght the brain and other two LPSs from LFS about three months ago. At begin they were doing fine, tentacles extended out when light went off. But recently after I switched salt from oceanic (learnt from RC, that oceanic has too high Ca content) to coralife, and started adding Kalkwasser, they are slowly dying (see the attached images)

Here are water param:
Tank: 58 Gal + 39 sump
Light: 4 39W T5 and 2 24W T5
Temperature: 78-81 F
SG: 1.022-1.023
PH: 8.0 - 8.1
AlK: 7.7
Ca: 540 (that's right, due to oceanic salt)

I also have SPS, and softies in the same tank, they are growing.

Help please and many thanks!

You can NOT use that picture formatt!!!! Please use jpeg and post the picture directly to Reefcentral. No one can view your pic and help you because MS does not play nice with others. I don't think that many people will open an account with MS just to look at your pics and help you.

Definitely need to see the pics.

Only other thing I see is low Alk, and low salinity compared to what I like, but that is me.

What are around them?

Are you running carbon?

But really need to see the pics.

This might be a long shot, but check your critters/fish. I have the same problem when my favia and open brain started going down hill and everything else was flourishing, and water was right and no other corals can sting them. And after closer observation one night, 1 of my 3 peppermint shrimps was feasting on them at night. I thought it was prolly eating dead tissue out of it, but again why isn't the other two touching it? As soon as I took the shrimp out, They both came back right away.

Thanks djperezo and all others.

I have sand bed (3-5'') in main tank. The three LPSs in trouble are all located far away from other corals.

I am trying to bring Alk up by dripping Kalkwasser (~0.5 gal per day to replace evaporation). I also concern that my Ca is already too high (540)

I donot have peppermints, but I do have 2 cleaners. Cleaners like to stay on brain sometime, but not on the other two. Checked every night, but haven't found critter arround LPS. Actually all three started dying off from bottom (see the pictures).

The fishes in the same tank are: flame angle (she never bothers LPSs), yellow tang, blue tang, cardinal, purple Dottyback, and clown. I also have a purple lobster

Two T5s (blue and actinic) stay on 12 hr, rest of T5s on 9-10 hr, while the light on samp turned on at night.

Any clue? Thanks!

My brain is closed up for the last few days. But my daughter had od'ed the tank with stronium so I figured that was why. I'm doing a water change tommorow. Will keep you posted.
