I purchased a Candy Cane from an online vendor 5 days ago. Since then it has not opened. At night the are feeding tentacles everywhere. Looks like a big white bush with all the tentacles out. It is feeding fine just not extending during the day. I have it in a moderate flow area with medium to high lighting. I have read conflicting threads on the lighting requirements of this coral. Some say high light, some say low light. I have 1000w of light(500w of it is MH's 10K). I have the CC is 18 inches away from the MH's.

Do I just need to give it more time or should I move it to a different location?

Thanks

By the way here is a pic:

IME, this coral will do better in diffused or indirect light, that is when mine has looked best.

I would place it on the bottom of the tank. On the sand bed. it doesn't require a huge amount of light.

Also, what are your tank params? How old is the tank? Make sure you check ALK, Ca, and pH. If any of these are not correct, that might well explain the problem.

Thanks for the reply. Params are all in check. ALL of my other LPS corals are doing great. Just this one. And since its new I'm sure there is an adjustment period. I have moved it down near the bottom of the tank. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

here is mine which is less then 12" away from the MH's which i've got 1000w of along with 380w VHO and it does great with direct lighting. my best guess is flow is to strong on it, but it's just a guess.
