did you see this on their site?

if your reefkeeping club wants to do a group coral or rock purchase we will provide special discounts based on the amount purchased.

For details on this special discount program please have one of the club officers call Dr. Mac for details, TOLL-FREE 877-887-5224.

that may be worth a call.

jake you're just planning on taking a day trip up there right? i saw the directions on the site; i have to admit that's not one of the sites i frequent but i found it none the less. i've never taken that route before but i think it would be pretty neat. especially if it really is only 2 hours or so away from the bridge tunnel. you wanna leave on saturday right? what time? i gotta see if my buddy wants to come along, if not i might have an open seat as well. greg

Greg,
I was thinking of leaving around 10:00 am that should put us up there about 12:30-1:00pm. We could meet at the IHOP on Military Hwy. Maybe leave after around 2:00-3:00pm. I have to be back before 7:00 I have a party to attend.

Randy,
Did you want me to pick you something up?Anyone else want anything?

Amber,
could you call Dr. Mac about a club discount?

Jake, could you pick me up a cheap ($10-20) birdsnest coral and maybe a clam red blue or green would be cool($20-30). If they do not have anything in my price range, don't worry about it. thanks

Where is Dr. Mac's? I can't go up Saturday, but I would like to know where it is and what the URL for the website is.

I didn't see this until now, but I would be interested in taking a trip with you guys sometime. I have been up to Salisbury to see Dr.Mac and it was a very nice drive...about 2 hours from my house in Chesapeake. I got my 15% off postcard from Dr.Mac, so I'm all set to go!

I'm heading up to Dr Macs on Thrusday. Wife bought me live rock for Christmas. Exciting! I plan on getting about 70-90 lbs of Tonga. Let me know if you guys need anything or want to go.

If you're going up just for live rock then I'd wait until he gets another shipment. Dr. Mac didn't have any large or extra large rocks. Mostly medium sized stuff. He said that most of the large and x-large rock was purchased in early December. I was a little disappointed about that.

I was also a little disappointed in the quality of rock that I got. There wasn't as much coralline and other stuff on the rock as I thought there'd be. I'm just using the pictures of live rock that people post from that Tampa Bay live rock company and pics from this website. don't get me wrong though. The rock is nice shaped and very porous. Just didn't the large sizes that I was looking for.

If you're going up there for coral and fish, then head on up there. He's got a really nice store. The quality of the coral and fish are top notch. Everything looked very healty.

You also want to verify the directions from the beach with mapquest or something else. I thought that I was following the directions from the website; however, I got stuck having to ask directions from 13N. Could've just been me getting lost and not the directions.

I have Kaelini from Dr. Mac in my 29 and need some more soon when I move into my 75. I will call Dr. Mac and see if he can get some large pieces in. Kaelini has the advantage of being virtually pest-free (no mantis, gorillas, or aiptasia). TBS has a lot of stuff on it that filter feeds and doesn't live long in aquariums.

Okay, I called on Monday, they got a shipment yesterday, and I drove up there today. I got the pick of the batch and Dr.Mac helped me pick out some really nice LARGE pieces of Tonga. One of the pieces is almost too heavy to pick up - about 1'x 2'. I liked the new facility. Very clean and everything was well labeled and healthy.
