Opinions aside, I may be wrong, but I think they are. Everything from my search on google appears to support it as well, do some searching. I think these really are SPS.

I am keeping one and it is an sps. I don't think they are all very difficult to keep, but they grow really slowly. I don't give mine any special care or anything.

SPS are generally thin tissued small polyped corals.Merulina like Mycedium,Oxypora are thicker tissued, not really a LPS but not SPS either IMO.Either way, they're beautiful.Flanders, what kinda lighting and flow is yours in?Ever seen any sweepers from it?Do you keep it with softies?

Mine is in medium-high flow and medium light under the center brace between 2 175-watt halides. I've never noticed sweepers from it but I haven't had it for that long and I don't think I've looked at it at night yet. I did some research before I got it and supposedly they do get long sweepers but don't really do any damage to other corals. I do keep a few softies. It's not a very colorful one, rusty brown. Here's a bad pic, it's to the left of the large polyped gorgonian:

nice piece,I've seen the one at the LFS growing right into zoanthids with neither being harmed. It did however sting some GSP's that were encroaching.
