Setting up a LPS grow-out tank (55gal) and need lights.

I'm looking at 14k Hamiltons w/ Acintics.

I know alot of SPS people like this for growing-out their frags.

Is this ideal for LPS as well? Specifically Euphyllias, Acans, Lobos.

I'll probably want to toss some Zoos/Yumas in there as well.

Anyone recommend anything different?

with the 14k's you shouldnt need the actinics. I use actinics because I like the look of the 10K better and use the actinics for the bluer end of the light spectrum.

Actually from what I remember 6500's are better for growth.

So 6500s are the best?

You guys prop'n LPS/Zoos who have been successful, please feel free to let me know what lightning you have going.

the iwaki6500k have the best par rating out of any other mh out there that i know of. if you want awsome growth i would do some of those depending on the size of ur tank.

I have had excellent growth with VHO alone. I have 660 watts right now, with 4 actinic white, and 2 03 actinics. My frogspawns as well as my leathers have more than doubled in size, in less than a year.

lps need more food than light to grow, you can have them under any light really, just make sure you give them meaty foods every other day

agreed,I use 2 VHO act and 2 T5 daylights and get good growth in my LPS tank.I feed the corals at least 4-5 times a week
