How about showing some pictures of tanks again. Especially now that another great meeting has come and gone. Everyone should have some nice new additions after this past weekend.

I guess we'll see if I can do this. My first picture post. Two of my WC Erectus, maited pair. And the mother of the devils hand I fragged for the last meeting. If this goes well I'll post a few more.

Feeding time, this is about 3 months old, lots added between then and now. Also the prolifera has grown so much you can't see the sand on that side. While most people dread macro's I buy them :)

Ok last one, I need to get some new pictures. We've got 4 new CB Erectus on the way, so I guess my wife will make me take some pictures of them. I guess I'll take some of all the tanks when they come in.

Looks very nice. I love that pink one down front, is it a birds nest? The orange in the corner caught my eye as well, is it a cap? Very nice looking. I don't have a full tank shot here at work, maybe I'll check at home when I get there. Those are pictures my wife emailed me at work saying "look at this".

I'm in the process of converting the 55 over to a reef tank, I made all the seahorses move to a 20H and setup a 20xh for the 4 new ones we ordered.

Thanks. The pink one down front is a wild birdsnest. It is the only non-aquacultured coral I have in the tank. The orange coral in the corner is a monti cap. So is the one right below it to the left, one of these days it will be a purple cap. I have a total of six caps in the tank. One of them is just about the size of a dime though so it doesn't show up. The cap that I just got from Amy this weekend doesn't show up in this picture either. It will once it grows up though.

So are the seahorses happy in there new home? Also, what type of corals are you planning on keeping in the reef tank?

I love that red macro.. is that botryocladia (red bubble)? Mine doesn't grow nearly that large and is far more spread out. Very beautiful macro. What is the feeding bowl for?

Thanks, Harlan(right?), I was told the red bubble is bubble kelp do you know if that's what it is? I love the macros and have 8 or 10 different types some of which I don't know what they are. I have the wavy red kelp and a red ferny looking macro both of which you can see in the pics. I notice you have sea grass, what does it like(flow, lighting, substrate)? Perhaps we could do a macro trade at the next meeting. I love your sea horses! Makes me want to set up a tank and get some :) How hard are they to keep?

The little bowl in my tank is a propagation area where I put zoos and such for them to attach to small rubble before glueing.

I love macro's as well. I'd love to do a swap, I've got maybe 10 different varieites as well. The large red bubble is botryocladia, I have plenty of it. I'm not sure about the red fern type, and the red kelp type, I pretty much only know the ones I have and some common types I don't. When time get closer to the next swap we'll setup a macro trade, thats about the only time I make it to that area.

The seahorses have more personality than any fish I know of, more than puffers. Amazing creatures more like pets than fish. They run to our hand as soon as they are put in the tank, and my wife sort of trained them. They will hitch to her fingers one on each finger, and then follow her other hand (with food in it) with there heads in unison. Very cool to watch. But then there is the rest of the time. They are pretty stationary, only one we had was really active swimming all the time. They get everything normal fish get and LOTS of species only stuff, most of our seahorses have had more in medicine bills than they cost by about 10x over. But the seahorse community is pretty well established, we even know a biologist that performs necropsis and cultures on dead seahorses to identify the cause of death. We lost 2 of the 4 in the pictures plus another 2 in another tank to a food born species specific worm that takes up to 6 months to kill them, he believed we recieved them with it. The other two are currently undergoing some "possible" treatments while a worm doctor of some sort thats friends with the dr. that did the necropsis looks into them. Anyway they are amazing both in personality and the amount of care they take. Of course these are all wild caught not captive bred which we won't be doing again. We have 4 new horses on order from a friend that breeds them. My wife has attempted to raise 2 batches of fry but no luck so far. Anyway the community for seahorses is about as friendly as this one which is half the fun, and the horses are amazing, in the end they are worth it.

Oh my the pics of those horses are wonderful. I admire anybody that can devote the time and care these guys require.

Both of you have some really interesting macros. Lana do you by any chance garden?

Bruce I like your "pink" cap too. That's about the same color my purple is right now too :rolleyes1: At least it's still pretty when it's not colored up right *sigh*

Curtis, is that my finger leather in the second picture? Wooowhooo thats the first coral I've ever fragged, kinda cool seeing it in another tank, specially a nice one :)

lowcel, I'm going to try and do it mostly sps with mushrooms in the sand and macro's if I can keep them at bay, I love macro's almost as much as corals. I got one sps at the auction so we'll see how it goes. I know I need more flow, but other than that I think I'm going to be able to pull it off. I think you need to frag that monti cap for the next one :)

I bought this leather at the store about a month ago, it's doing good except it detached from it's rock and hasn't reattached yet. I wouldn't dare pull a finger :D

Maybe I should introduce myself.

I've been on RC for a while, but I just started posting today.

My name is Todd.
I was the hippy at the club meeting. I stood most of the time by you Lana, and Maria.
I've been going to Jo-Mars several times a month (or even a week) for about 8 years now. Ron has made it much more exciting in the last year.

LOL
I guess you could say that.
Both of my lobes have been stretched to 0000gauge (1/2").
And, I've got several other piercings.

We talked a little about mountain biking at the last meeting in August.

It's a long-time handle. I use it for just about everything. It's a kind of long story.

Hey Todd, I know you now! :) Glad you started posting...I just started posting recently myself, mostly I've been lurking and learning. I have one of those handles with a long story but haven't used mine in a long time it's Chaquita. Named so by my best friends hubby many years ago.

Yeh, it looks like we signed up around the same time Lana.
But, my post count is already catching up with you. Once I realized I knew some of you guys, I figured I would start posting.
I better try to get some pictures of my tanks, so I can make a real contribution to this thread. But, they aren't much to look at right now.
