Just setting up my tank and find that I don't have enough room for a rigid pvc durso standpipe (need to offset a little). I think that I can make it work if I use flex, though. Has anyone else done this and/or does anyone think this may affect the performance of the drain. Thanks.

Should work fine.

you can use flex, or even get clear vinyl tubing of the appropriate inside diameter. I know several people who have used the vinyl tubing.

Just thought i'd bring this up since i may go this route. Anyone else have any experiences doing this?

The flex pvc would have worked fine for me but I decided to use a Stockman standpipe with rigid pvc instead due to space limitations in my overflow. All of my other plumbing utilizes flex pvc, though. You shouldn't have any problems.

I've heard that the vinyl tubing discolors after a while and you can get algae growth inside of it because the of light going through the tubing. You're best off getting flex pvc instead.
