Chat Night

Now that Bryan has set up a SWAM chat room ( Thanks Bryan)I was wondering if it would be a good idea to set a specific evening and time to meet and chat. Trying to sidle in and catch anyone in there may be tough. Just thinking out loud.

BTW, Denise, you may have already noticed that mozilla doesn't like the java client. If you're interested in visiting the chat room, I highly recommend an irc client. I use mIRC, and would recommend it over most.

Okay so I went to the site Rob reccommended.. I believe i sucessfully loaded the site but am not sure how to find SWAM.. do I need to plug in the port 6667 or 7000 along with SWAM?? I am such an idiot ( and have ZERO patience) with this ****!)

somehow... I got to a screen that siad i was talking in #6667... that does not sound right.... I think I am talking to myself ( :( :(

nope. That's a different room. type in SWAM. Mirc broadcasts to 6667 and 7000. You don't need to worry about the port unless you're behind a firewall that locks down ports. For our hardware firewall on our network at home, I have to make sure that the program mIRC has permissions to use port 6667, and to accept packets from port 6667 and 7000.

I'll be in the room for a while. I've yet to see another person there.
Hopefully things will be different this evening.

i presume i type SWAM in the channel and then join.. however it puts a # in front of it...

you're connecting to everywherechat as your server, correct?


The # in front of swam is ok. you just have to type in swam. If you're on a different server, however, you'll end up creating a room named swam, and being the channel operator. Unfortunately, you'll never have a visitor. :D

If you're on the right server, when you joing the room SWAM, it should say:

*now talking in #SWAM
*Topic is 'salt water addicts of Maine........."
*set by scvagent-xxxxxxxx on [date]
