If you have a nitrite reading greater than zero, your tank is cycling. Bacteria convert ammonia to nitrite and then another species of bacteria convert nitrite to nitrate.

To reduce the nitrate level in your tank, perform regular water changes. That is an oversimplified solution to high nitrates, but it is the easiest. Sometimes high nitrates come from the water you use for water changes, so test your water source for nitrates, too.

Stop using the coral vital and feed less. Either your tank has never cycled or your bio-filtration is overwhelmed. My guess is you are overfeeding.
