Hi everyone,

Since I'm a lighting technician by trade, I called around to some of our regular lamp suppliers to see if Ushio's AquaLine was available. I figured that a large volume lamp supplier could definitely have better prices than even the highest volume online dealer since they sell more lamps in a week than a fish store may in a year.

Only one called back and the results were quite nice. Nicole at Bulbman at 4230 Cameron St. quoted these prices:

175W #5000761 $60
250W #5001070 $80

The Ushio 175W and 400W require a Pulse Strike ballast, but the 250W will run off of a normal magnetic ballast. She has those (bare) for $38.

The quote for the 400W was out of line, so she's trying to get a better one. Of course, they're not in stock, but at least we have a local source that's cheaper than mail order. They also offer free shipping on all orders over $50

I'm also trying to get her to carry IceCap and possibly the entire Sunlight Supply.

Contact Nicole at 364-9000 if you're interested.

I don't have any vested interest in these sales.

Jason

Great info, i'll be in the market probably by December, I tend to replace my bulbs more frequently than most (7months). I'm using the Ushio DE250w that came with my Maristar fixture and I am very happy with them.

Do you happen to know if your supplier has access to T5 bulbs?

Thanks again for posting the info!

Oh yeah. Sorry, all I could think of was Diatamaceous Earth.

It's looking like I am going to be getting some t-5's in pretty soon. I was talking to the guys from Current at the trade show the other week and they have a line out and as soon as Lee Mar picks them up I am going to get them in. Just let me know what wattage you are looking for and I might even be able to rush things a little bit...
