View Full Version : Looking for rubber pads locally

I just filled my tank with tap water the other day to water test it. I ran all the pumps to see what the flow was like and to see what kind of noise I was getting. It was pretty obvious that the close loop pumps are not silent. They are in the floor (concrete) and I was amazed as to how much vibration gets transmitted to the house and the wall next to it from them.

I want to get some rubber pads to put the pumps on and also to wrap some of the pipes going through the wall into the tank. That should kill tons of the vibration and noise. Anybody has any cheap solutions locally?

Hope to see you all saturday:lol:

What kind of rubber pad? HD has the type like they use in resturants. 36 x 36 3/4" rubber with holes.

Not entirely on topic, but, did you use any flex pvc?

I have found that even if you don't like it, a short section in line somewhere close to the pumps should help to reduce the vibration transmitted to the tank.

This would be on both the drain/suction and the returns.

Steve:

Thanks for the suggestion. I hate using flex PVC for a number of reasons. One is that ince it is cut in smaller sections it stops being FLeX and it retains whatever shape it had before. The vibration is not going through the plumbing, but mostly through the concrete slab where the pump is sitting. There is a little vibration also transmitted to the walls where the pipes go through.
