Tank top

Need to make top for 48 x 18 tank. Any suggestions on where to get glass and hinge?

zooequatics has some nice glass tops but they have a black devider in the iddle of them so if a lights over it, it causes a bad shadow. You could get some glass place to just make you a piece of glass thats the size you need, but zooquatics is the easiest way to go.

Does your tank have a devider, or are you looking to build one big glass top?

Tank does not have divider. It is 48� x 18�. Was thinking on adding top to help with evaporation but now thinking it might be a lot of trouble to keep clean. Any thoughts?

You can certainly build a glass top. Any LFS can get you hinge, and any decent glass shop can cut the lids for you (hinges fit 3/16 glass). It will be a bit of a pain to squeese on a 48" hinge. Be prepared to use some elbow grease. That being said, if you don't have fish that jump, don't worry about it. They'll fog up and you'll have to rinse them off alot. If evaporation is a huge issue try building an automatic topoff.
