What type of lighting is that exactly. How much and where did you find all that? Kicking around starting up a nano and am looking for a cheap lighting solution. Also, do you skim or just feed lightly? Thanks.

I've got a tetratec 150 w/ heater. the lights are coralife 20W PC 50/50 screw in bulbs. mounted with home depot shop light bells with clamps. whole setup for lights was about $35

better watch out the tang police might bust you.

You should post that somewhere where thell read it and put like :
my new tang in my nano: as the title

are you planning on making a hood for it? only a *small* percentage of the light is actually going into the tank as it is...

it's certainly enough wattage if you can make an efficent reflector. i had a ~3 gallon nano years ago with 4 9w PC bulbs that had no problems with a clam and acro.

I'm going to probably make a cardboard hood lined with aluminum foil. I gotta keep it ghetto

I always wonderded why reflectors aren't made out of mirror, It would be a bit heavy but for something smallish it seams doable.
When they advertise you always hear things like "polished to a mirror finnish". Just wondering

I am not sure, but in my mind, I think that a metallic reflector would have more than one angle. Seems that a mirror would just shoot it straight back into the bulb. Just my weird brain though, I am probably wrong.

someone did tests a long time ago and found that even white paint did a better job of reflecting more overall light than a mirror does. mirrors just look like they reflect more because they don't disperse the light, and from the light having to go through a layer of glass twice.
