The Wasatch Marine Aquarium Society is having their 2004 Reef Tour on Saturday, September 25th. Those of you in South-Eastern Idaho, or who will be in Utah then may want to get out if you can. Information can be found at:

WMAS Web Page (http://www.utahreefs.com)

Also, as an OSU Alumni, I have to hand it to the BSU football team for giving OSU such a thumping last week in Boise.

Maybe next year.....<sigh>.....

Chem Guy,

Currently there are 5 of us planning on heading down Bright and early Saturday the 24th. We have a route planned starting in the north and heading south. I really want to see Jim Perry's 700 gallon reef so we will be playing it by ear and skip some of the tanks.

Tren and I also want to go check out Brine Shrimp Direct while we are down there and see if we can get them to work with our LFS so we can buy locally...

Thanks,

Scott

I know of at least one store in the SLC area that carries the Brine Shrimp Direct products (http://www.marine-aquatics.com) and I am sure Brine Shrimp Direct would be happy to have more retailers carry their products.

You are correct that you won't have time to see many of the tanks. I will be starting early in Brigham City myself and will make Jim Perry's tank the final stop of the day. Essentially Jim built a custom home and designed the house around his HUGE reef aquarium. You don't get a good idea of the size until you look at the construction pictures with Jim standing next to it.

Jim's Reef Aquarium Page (http://www.rockcanyon.com/reef/)

Hopefully in a few days Adam (adamblundell@hotmail.com) will have detailed descriptions and directions to each address in an expanded flyer/guide similar to last year's. It should be a lot of fun.

I have been communication with Adam and he has helped us figure out a route so we can maximize the number of tanks without getting too lost in cities and areas we are unfamiliar with.

I put together driving directions from reef to reef so hopefully we wont get lost. I sent them to Adam and he said they looked good.

Tren was a taxi driver in the area during the Olympics so at least we have one person that knows the area.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi there guys.
We are greatly looking forward to having you visit with us next weekend. In turn, know that we have club members always excited to visit Boise for any event. (especially if you can get GARF to open their doors for a day)

By the way, I like the Smurf turf (went to school there for a bit) and I hope the Broncos crush (anything less than 50 point win will be dissapointing) the byu cougars next week. Can't wait for that game (day of the Reef Tour).

See you all soon,
Adam

Adam,

I doubt we can get GARF open at all. I kinda sorta almost volunteer there helping with the web site and I can't get in the door either...

I think Tren is trying to put together some sort of a frag swap while we are in the SLC area...

Thanks,

Scott

ok here is the deal,
It will cost $50 to put the van on insurance for a day, so I guess well all just split that, and gas and we are good.
contact me or scott if you are for sure going!

The complete 2004 Reef Tour guide, with detailed tank descriptions and driving directions is now available online at:

WMAS Webpage (http://www.utahreefs.com)

It is a fairly large file (1.35MB) and is in .PDF format. Those of you getting up in the wee, wee hours of the morning may find it good to look over on your drive down.

If you go to the 'Buy-Sell-Trade' section on the club message board, several people are advertising frags for trade/sell. You may want to do the same. I would give Danny Lueck a call (or e-mail), since he is fragging most of the stuff in his tank currently. In the 'Buy-Sell-Trade' section, he has a recent post tittled 'Everything in my tank is for sale'. Good luck and we may bump into each other somewhere.

I will be starting in the North and plan on finishing at Jim perry's tank. Good luck.

Tren, Kim, Jenny, Jim, Tabby, Bruce, Zech, Lindsey & Scott all made a road trip to the Salt Lake area on September 24th to go on the WMAS reef tour. It was an awesome trip. We were able to visit seven different homes where their reefs were on display. We took a lot of pictures and have made quick little links so others can see what they missed.
